On Thursday 12 December, the school will be celebrating Christmas with an event called Lanfranc’s Christmas Carol Concert and Market.

The evening will start at 6:00pm with a Christmas market featuring stalls selling a wide variety of gift items including  plants, jams , Christmas gifts and Christmas decorations.

At 6:30pm, there will be a concert in the main hall featuring performances by the music department’s ensembles and soloists, as well as carol singing for all.  At the end of the concert (approximately 7:30pm), the market will re-open for final purchases and refreshments.  The evening will finish at approximately 8:30pm.

The cost of tickets for the event is £2.00. Children under 7 years are free.

Tickets can only be purchased through the order form available from the office.

This event is opened only to pupils from years 7, 8 and 9.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to The Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice, whose aim is to care for terminally ill children and to make every day count for these families. Food and gifts parcels will be collected for donation to The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal, which helps homeless and lonely people at Christmas time.

If you would like to purchase tickets, please complete the form and return it in the brown envelope available from the office,  together with a cheque (made payable to The Archbishop Lanfranc School) or (the exact amount in cash as no change can be given).

All payment should be bought to the school office no later than Friday 6 December 2013.  Tickets will then be sent home via your son/daughter.

Please contact Ms R Reeve if you have any queries.

New IT facilities for the new half-term

Another 90 Chromebooks will be in circulation starting this week. The three mobile classrooms are now available in Maths, Science and for English and MFL. This is in addition to the 30 already in use in Humanities. With changes to how RealSmart and Google Docs work, the Chromebook is supplanting the tradition pc approach to providing IT resources in schools as everything begins move over to the Cloud.

It doesn’t stop there. We are using PCs were they make sense in delivering IT facilities. The Music department has been networked and given two new sets of computers to help develop Music skills in keeping with  technology changes. The Technology Department’s Room 21 has been completely reequipped with new computers. No more deafening fans. These may well be the last RM computers to be installed in the School as RM have announced they are withdrawing from supplying hardware.
