Thanks to everyone for taking part in the RealSmart launch on Wednesday and in particular to Mr Afful for coming in to take his group. Just Year 10 to go and we’re all on board.

The KS3 rollout should be completed this week with the whole school launch scheduled for 18th January 2012.

Extensions are generally available to download from the Chrome Web Store. Some extensions are free of charge, some have a cost.

When using the school network you will be limited in which extensions you can install. Following are a list of free extensions you can install when using the school network.

• Evernote Web – Adds a button that links to the Evernote website when you open a new tab
• Evernote Web Clipper – Adds an Evernote button to the browser to clip pages into your Evernote account
• Google Books – Enables you to download titles from the Google Book store to read on your computer, tablet or phone
• Pulsate - A simple app which allows you to create musical patterns from randomly colliding circles
• Gamestar Mechanic - An award-winning game and community where you can make and share your own video games

This list will be updated when appropriate new extensions are available to install.

Core Apps

Once you are logged into the lanfranc.org site, all sites listed under ‘Core Apps’ automatically know your lanfranc.org login details and don’t require you to log in again.

Google and Open ID login sites

Under ‘More Sites’ the following accept a Google or Open ID login. This will bypass most of the signing up process.

• Lucid Chart
• Spicy Nodes

Find the log in (or sign in) page and click one of the Google logos (see examples circled in red below). Use your lanfranc.org account details to sign in.

Manual sign up

Under ‘More Sites’ the following have to be signed up for manually.

• Prezi

On first visit you will need to go through the sign up process. Use your lanfranc.org address when appropriate.

Kerboodle account

You may have been issued with a Kerboodle account. The username is based on your Atomwide account. Visit the network admin office if you have problems logging in.

MyMaths account

You may have been issued with a MyMaths account. Ask your maths teacher if you have problems logging in.

The Google Apps Learning Center provides instruction on how to get the most out of Google Apps. Use it to take a tour of Google Apps features, training videos, tips & tricks, FAQs or information on recent updates.

The Google Apps Channel on YouTube has many videos uploaded by the Google Apps team.

The App Status Dashboard page will let you know if there are any problems with the various parts of Google Apps.

There is also a Help Centre for each component of Google Apps.

This method involves modifying the ownership of the Google Site and making a copy of it into its new address.

1. Log into the Google Site using the account that is the owner of the site on the lanfranc.croydon.sch.uk domain.
2. Make a note of the site’s address. It may be useful later.
3. Click the ‘Share’ button and add the account of the user that will eventually be the owner on the lanfranc.org domain.
4. Ensure this user is set to ‘Is owner’ rather than ‘Can edit’ or ‘Can view’.
5. Click ‘Save changes’.
6. You can now log out of the lanfranc.croydon.sch.uk account.
7. Log into the Google Site using the account that will eventually be the owner on the lanfranc.org domain.
8. Navigate to the site’s address if you are not already on it.
9. Click the ‘More’ button and select ‘Manage site’.
10. Click the ‘Copy this site’ button.
11. Enter the ‘Site name’ to be used on the lanfranc.org domain. This can be the same as the site’s original name if it has not already been used on the lanfranc.org domain.
12. Check the ‘Site location’ is the address you require.
13. Check the other options are set as required.
14. Click the red ‘Copy’ button.

A copy of the site on the lanfranc.croydon.sch.uk domain has now been made on the lanfranc.org domain. You may want to check the sharing options of the Google Site as they may differ from the original.

To ensure users are viewing the correct site you may want to delete the original Google Site or alter the sharing options so it is no longer visible to other users.

This method involves transferring the ownership of the document between two accounts.

1. Log in with your lanfranc.org or lanfranc.croydon.sch.uk account and open Google Docs.
2. Find the document you want to transfer.
3. Open the ‘Share’ settings for the document.
4. Add the address of the account you want to transfer ownership of the document to. This account must be on the same domain.
5. With the ‘Sharing settings’ dialog still open, next to the same account, change the setting from ‘Can edit’,  ’Can comment’ or ‘Can view’ to ‘Is owner’.
6. Click ‘Save changes’.

The account you made the document owner is now the owner of the document.
